Implementation Processes
 
Capacity Building

  • Mobilisation of political will, advocacy to promote policy, regulatory and tariff reforms that promote sustainable pro-poor investments;
  • Implementation of pilot demonstration projects;
  • Strengthening of regional, country and city-level good urban WATSAN governance and capacities for integrated water and sanitation development and management;
  • Promoting water quality, sanitation and hygiene education and create a new ethic among, children, community and local authorities;
  • Public awareness campaigns, Media Advisory and Gender Mainstreaming;
  • Benchmarking of utility performance and monitoring progress towards MDG goals in water and sanitation.
Project Preparation

  • Identifying and developing pilot and fast-track investment projects, consistent with the ADB’s country strategies and programmes.
Promoting Investments

  • Implementing projects with focus on mobilization of financial resources and provision of loans to the participating countries;
  • Measures to ensure continuity of WATSAN sector reforms based on transparent policies and regulations, capacity-building and institutional strengthening with particular attention to operations, management and sustainability of water supply and sanitation services;
  • Involving civil society, private sector, NGOs from the level of planning till implementation
