Fast-track activities are ongoing in four medium/small towns, viz. Song Cau, Thap Cham, Gia Nghia and Ca Na within the ADB loan project, with an aim to demonstrate that a water utility can quickly improve service levels and yet be sustainable. GIS mapping of poor settlements, water and sanitation situation assessments and IEE are being conducted in these selected towns.
Dak Nong Provincial Water Supply and Drainage Company (DNWSDC) is developing tools for mapping the poor, gender assessment and IEE for low-income settlements in the towns of Gia Nghia, and Dak Nong Province.
UN-HABITAT contribution benefited:
Ca Na, a small town, with sanitation services for 1,900 people living in poverty;
Thap Cham, a medium town, with water supply and sanitation connections for the 449 low-income households; and
the towns of Do Vinh and Bao.
The municipality of Tuy Hoa city is benefited with water supply and sanitation facilities for 588 low-income households and Phu Lam town for 2,740 people.
The Water Supply and Drainage One Member Limited Liability Company of Phu Yen Province (PYWSD) developed community based water and sanitation project and pilot tested to cover two poor community pockets.
